As part of continued growth, our client is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to help expand their surveying practice. This is a unique opportunity for a survey professional who enjoys both technical project delivery and client development. The role will partner closely with the existing Survey Market Leader to strengthen relationships, pursue new opportunities, develop strategic growth initiatives, and help win work throughout the region while remaining involved in survey operations and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the growth and expansion of the surveying practice through business development and client relationship management.
- Assist with identifying, pursuing, and securing new survey opportunities across public and private sectors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, DOTs, engineering consultants, developers, and other key clients.
- Collaborate on proposals, qualifications packages, interviews, and project pursuit strategies.
- Work alongside the Survey Market Leader to develop market growth plans and business development initiatives.
- Oversee and contribute to survey production efforts, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, utility, and control surveys.
- Review survey deliverables and ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Mentor and support survey crews, technicians, and junior staff.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other internal stakeholders to provide integrated project solutions.
- Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and networking functions.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required in Kansas or Missouri.
- 8+ years of land surveying experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with client development, project pursuits, or business development activities.
- Strong understanding of survey operations, project management, and survey deliverables.
- Experience working with public sector and/or transportation-related projects is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance business development efforts with technical project involvement.
