Job Purpose: The Project Director is responsible for leading and coordinating project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, and troubleshooting for various projects in the oil & gas sector. The role ensures that project results meet quality, reliability, schedule, cost, and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
- Manage highly complex, high-value, long-duration projects or a portfolio of complex projects across service lines, including overall project P&L responsibility.
- Provide proactive decision-support to project management teams, evaluating alternative execution strategies for cost and schedule impacts.
- Identify and manage significant project risks, ensuring detailed information is gathered and disseminated for effective review and management.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and PMO to present baseline versus forecasted project performance reviews (financial, operational, QHSSE) as per corporate standards.
- Provide periodic performance reports to Senior Management on overall project performance and seek authorization for project decisions beyond authorized limits.
Team Supervision:
- Provide leadership to Project Management teams, ensuring execution strategies are evaluated for risks, including cost, schedule, quality, safety, and other project opportunities and liabilities.
- Support Project Managers in a supervisory, coaching, and mentoring capacity in the daily management of projects.
- Foster a culture of accountability within the project management team.
Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continual improvement processes within the Business Line and support the implementation of various initiatives.
- Build effective relationships with other personnel in the Project Management function, contributing to the development of forums and documentation.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience: Over 12 years of project management experience, with an intermediate understanding of geophysical and geotechnical survey operations.
- Management Experience: Expert level.
- Certifications: Project Management Certification preferred but not required.
- Languages: Proficient in English.
- Other Requirements: Ability to work remotely, pass offshore medical/offshore certification, and engage in offshore/overseas site visits.
