Project Engineering Manager - Solar/BESS

Our client is a renewable energy & conventional power generation provider with an exciting opening in their clean energy division for a project engineering manager to specifically focus on their utility-scale battery energy storage efforts.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of engineering, development and construction, with visibility across projects from early-stage feasibility through execution.
*Preference for candidates who are in the Mid-West that are willing to travel as needed to get facetime with leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee engineering activities for large-scale BESS projects.
- Coordinate design across civil, electrical, substation, transmission and site infrastructure disciplines.
- Evaluate potential project sites and support technical feasibility assessments.
- Manage external engineering consultants and technical deliverables.
- Support equipment selection, procurement and contractor coordination.
- Develop and review project cost estimates, schedules and technical risk assessments.
- Provide engineering support throughout development and construction.
- Identify opportunities to improve project performance, cost and schedule.
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5-10+ years of experience within power generation, renewable energy or project engineering.
- Experience with battery storage or solar projects.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering and project development.
- Experience working with consultants, contractors and internal project teams.
- BESS development, design or installation experience is highly advantageous.
- Experience working for a major EPC on power generation/renewable energy projects is highly advantageous.
