Remote PV/BESS Electrical CAD Designer II
An established electrical contractor is looking to add a CAD Designer II to its growing renewable energy engineering team. This is an opportunity to support the design and delivery of solar PV and battery energy storage projects ranging from 1 MW to 500+ MW, working closely with electrical engineers, project teams, and field construction professionals. You'll join an established in-house engineering group working alongside electrical engineers, designers, VDC professionals, project management teams, and field personnel. The position offers exposure to technically challenging renewable energy projects and the opportunity to see designs progress from concept all the way through construction.
The Role
You'll support electrical design from early-stage proposals through construction and as-built documentation, with responsibilities including:
- Produce construction drawings, equipment layouts, electrical site plans, and electrical diagrams
- Independently develop and manage site layouts from proposal through as-built
- Support the electrical design of utility-scale Solar and BESS projects
- Coordinate with civil and structural consultants to develop integrated project layouts
- Assemble and manage design packages and project documentation
- Provide design support throughout engineering and construction
- Follow established QA/QC processes and CAD standards
- Participate in occasional project site visits
What We're Looking For
- 3-5 years of CAD/design experience within an electrical design firm or design-build electrical contractor
- Experience with solar electrical systems
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD
- Experience developing electrical/site layouts and construction drawings
- Strong attention to detail and document/file management skills
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
- PVsyst experience is a plus
