Project Manager - Data Center
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager seeking to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale hyperscale and mission-critical developments across Michigan.
Our client is a nationally recognised project advisory and owner's representation firm that partners with some of the world's leading technology and data center organisations. Due to continued growth within its Mission Critical practice, the business is seeking a Project Manager to support the delivery of complex data center developments from pre-construction through commissioning and handover.
This position offers the chance to work directly on behalf of the owner, providing strategic oversight, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving successful project outcomes across some of the most significant digital infrastructure projects currently under construction in the United States.
The successful candidate will be a visible leader onsite, capable of coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing project controls, and ensuring programme, cost, quality, and risk objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Owner's Representative on major data center construction projects across Michigan.
- Lead coordination efforts between contractors, consultants, design teams, vendors, and client stakeholders.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, risk registers, change management processes, and project reporting.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure project milestones are achieved in accordance with programme requirements.
- Review and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, commissioning activities, and turnover documentation.
- Identify project risks proactively and develop mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget performance.
- Participate in executive stakeholder meetings and provide clear project updates regarding progress, quality, safety, and commercial performance.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, startup, and handover activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support contract administration and oversee project controls throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners while driving accountability across all workstreams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management, construction management, or owner's representation experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering mission-critical, data center, industrial, advanced technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or other technically complex construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, cost management, procurement, and risk management.
- Ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience managing contractors and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work onsite and travel as required throughout Michigan.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?
- Represent the owner's interests rather than the contractor's.
- Work on high-profile hyperscale and mission-critical data center developments.
- Join a rapidly expanding data center team with a significant long-term project backlog.
- Exposure to the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through commissioning and occupancy.
- Opportunity to build relationships with some of the largest technology and digital infrastructure organisations in the world.
- Clear career progression within a growing national project management and advisory platform.
This role is ideal for a Project Manager currently working for a GC, EPC, design-builder, consultant, or owner's representative who wants greater project ownership and direct client exposure within the rapidly growing data center sector.
