Project Manager - Power Generation (Engineering Background Welcome)

Overview

Our client is seeking a motivated Project Manager to oversee projects from initiation through completion within the Power Generation industry. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a project management background in any engineering discipline who are interested in transitioning into and growing within the power generation sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing technical or engineering-related projects, strong organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while driving projects to successful completion. Prior power generation experience is preferred but not required for candidates who demonstrate a strong engineering foundation and a willingness to learn the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects from planning through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved.
• Coordinate project activities, resources, and deliverable across internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead project meetings and communicate updates to clients, leadership, and project teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to support successful project execution.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Maintain project documentation and adhere to established project management processes and standards.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project life cycle.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of project management experience in an engineering, construction, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, utility, or other technical environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
• Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing project schedules, tracking budgets, and managing project risks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external clients.

Preferred

• Exposure to power generation, utilities, energy, EPC, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
• PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification.
• Familiarity with engineering design and project execution processes.
• Understanding of EPC project structures and delivery methods.
• Interest in building a long-term career within the power generation industry.
