Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 Base + Bonus + ESOP

Mining, Mineral Rights, Energy & Natural Resources
A mid-sized, privately held and employee-owned consulting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Land Professional to support complex land, mineral, and resource-rights projects throughout Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, and the broader Western U.S.
This is an opportunity for an experienced land professional to take on technically challenging title, mineral-rights, and permitting work across the mining, energy, and oil & gas sectors. Senior candidates can be based fully remotely, with travel to the company's office expected approximately twice per year.
The Role
As a Senior Land Professional, you will:
- Lead complex mineral, surface, and resource-rights research supporting mining, energy, oil & gas, and natural-resource projects.
- Conduct and oversee advanced chain-of-title construction, ownership research, and mineral-rights analysis.
- Navigate complicated split-estate scenarios involving federal, state, private, tribal, surface, and mineral ownership interests.
- Research and interpret mining law, mining claims, mineral patents, claim mechanics, and associated land records.
- Perform detailed encumbrance, easement, lease, and royalty tracking to identify potential land and mineral-rights constraints.
- Navigate BLM record systems and federal land records, including research associated with mining claims and mineral ownership.
- Support land and mineral-related permitting, due diligence, acquisitions, development, and project planning.
- Review complex title information and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for clients and project teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level land professionals.
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, permitting specialists, and other technical professionals across multidisciplinary projects.
Ideal Background
- 12+ years of land, mineral-rights, natural-resource, or related consulting experience.
- Strong experience supporting mining, energy, and/or oil & gas projects.
- Advanced understanding of mining law and claim mechanics.
- Demonstrated experience with split-estate navigation and ownership analysis.
- Expertise in advanced chain-of-title construction and complex mineral-title research.
- Experience tracking encumbrances, leases, easements, royalties, and other ownership interests.
- Strong working knowledge of BLM land and mineral record systems and other federal, state, and county record sources.
- Experience supporting land and resource permitting across the Western U.S.
- Ability to independently manage technically complex research and provide senior-level guidance to clients and project teams.
Why Consider the Opportunity?
- Fully remote flexibility for qualified senior professionals.
- Only occasional office travel, typically twice per year.
- Work across Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Idaho, and other Western states.
- Diverse portfolio spanning mining, oil & gas, energy, land, and natural-resource projects.
- Opportunity to work on sophisticated mineral and property-rights issues rather than primarily transactional land work.
- Privately held and employee-owned company with an ESOP, providing employees with a direct stake in the firm's long-term success.
- Mid-sized environment offering access to substantial, complex projects without the layers of a large corporate consulting firm.
- Opportunity to serve as a senior technical resource and mentor while remaining hands-on with challenging land and mineral-rights work.
- Long-term career opportunity with the ability to influence the continued growth of the firm's land and natural-resource services.
