Renewables Designer II
Company Summary:
A highly reputable firm is looking to grow their Renewable team with a remote Designer II. With over 100+ years in business, this company has an extensive client list and provide design-build expertise and turnkey EPC capabilities across North America! They work on Utility Scale PV & BESS projects, with 8+GWH under contract & construction and 5.5+GWH completed to date!
Responsibilities:
- Develop and revise electrical design drawings and 3D models for utility-scale PV, DG, BESS, and MV systems, including equipment layouts, power plans, and construction details.
- Perform electrical calculations including power loads, feeder sizing, protection sizing, demand load summaries, and lighting/illumination analysis under engineering supervision.
- Apply company and industry standards for wire sizing, transformer feeders, protection coordination, and distribution system design.
- Coordinate with engineering, field teams, subcontractors, and civil/structural disciplines to ensure design accuracy and constructability.
- Review manufacturer submittals, create installation details, and support the layout of PV arrays, BESS equipment, MV infrastructure, and site lighting for construction documentation.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of electrical load calculations, feeder sizing, power distribution, and lighting design for commercial, industrial, or renewable energy projects.
- Experience developing complete electrical design and construction drawing packages with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD MEP/Map3D, Illuminance software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Earth.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior designers, coordinate multiple project priorities, and work effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent field surveying, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally across engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
