Safety Manager (Traveling | DC, GA, VA, and WI)
We're working with a leading Mechanical Subcontractor to hire an experienced Safety Managers to support field operations across multiple regions (DC, GA, VA, and WI). This role partners closely with division leadership across their respective states to drive safety performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen safety culture across active job sites and facilities.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone comfortable being in the field, influencing teams, and leading safety initiatives across large projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site audits across small to large-scale construction projects to ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards
- Identify risks, document findings, and implement corrective actions within required timelines
- Partner with project teams to reinforce best practices and ensure consistent enforcement of safety procedures
- Maintain and manage all safety-related documentation including incident reports, inspections, and training records
- Track trends in incidents and develop proactive strategies to reduce risk and improve performance
- Lead or support investigations following accidents or near misses, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up
- Provide on-site emergency response support when needed
- Deliver and coordinate safety training programs for field personnel
- Act as a point of guidance for junior safety staff, supporting their development and day-to-day activities
- Support or lead special safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications
- 5+ years of safety experience within construction or related environments
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards
- Experience conducting site audits, incident investigations, and leading safety programs
- OSHA certifications (10, 30, 40 hour) required
- OSHA 500, CHST or ASP strongly preferred; CSP is a plus
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Proven experience delivering safety training to field teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both field and leadership teams
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Prior experience mentoring or leading others
