Senior DCS Automation Engineer (Honeywell Platforms)

Locations: Houston, TX

A growing automation and engineering services organization is looking for an experienced automation professional with a strong background in Honeywell control systems. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and support of complex process control solutions across industrial facilities within the chemical and process manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of control system engineering activities for capital projects and plant upgrades.
  • Design and configure distributed control systems, safety systems, operator interfaces, and industrial communications networks.
  • Support the creation of control narratives, functional specifications, and operational philosophies.
  • Manage assigned project scopes, including scheduling, resource planning, budgeting, and technical oversight.
  • Coordinate closely with project teams and stakeholders to provide updates on engineering progress, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Ensure automation deliverables meet quality standards, project requirements, and client expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles, from early design through commissioning and startup.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion PKS and legacy TDC systems.
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), PLCs, HMIs, or additional DCS platforms is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is beneficial but not required.
  • 10+ years of automation, controls, or process control engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting projects within chemical, petrochemical, refining, or other continuous process industries.
  • Familiarity with front-end engineering, detailed design, and EPC project execution.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project documentation tools.
