Senior Environmental Engineer (Remediation)
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
Salary: $160,000 - $190,000 + bonus + ownership opportunities
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join a growing environmental practice in San Francisco. This individual will play a key leadership role in delivering complex site investigation and remediation projects while contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
This is a high-impact position suited for a technically strong, client-facing professional with experience across contaminated sites and remediation programs, and a desire to lead both projects and people.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical leader managing complex environmental investigation and remediation projects from strategy through execution
- Lead the development of technical deliverables including reports, memoranda, and data evaluations to a high standard of quality
- Provide technical direction and oversight on site investigation, remediation, and (where applicable) remedial design activities
- Assemble, lead, and mentor multi-disciplinary project teams, supporting both technical and professional development
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality and regulatory expectations
- Identify and manage technical risk, including environmental liability considerations, and support team awareness and education
- Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts clearly
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across municipal/public and commercial/industrial sectors
- Lead business development efforts and contribute to revenue growth, with an expected annual contribution of ~$500K
- Represent the firm in industry associations, conferences, and market-facing initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master's preferred)
Experience & Credentials
- 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting
- Strong technical background in site investigation and remediation of contaminated sites
- Experience leading complex projects and managing multidisciplinary teams
- Remedial design experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with public/municipal and commercial/industrial clients
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (or ability to obtain)
Core Skills
- Technical report writing and quality control
- Project management, including planning, cost estimating, and scheduling
- Mentorship and team leadership
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks
- OSHA HAZWOPER (preferred)
