Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

A growing consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, management, and delivery of mechanical building systems projects. This individual will serve as a technical leader within a multidisciplinary team, overseeing project execution and supporting client relationships across a diverse portfolio of building types. This role can either be based out of Clearwater, FL or Tampa, FL.

The role offers a blend of engineering design, project leadership, mentorship, and business development responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and coordination of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Prepare and oversee engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction documents.
• Serve as a technical resource and project lead on multidisciplinary projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables from concept through construction.
• Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, and system evaluations for existing facilities.
• Review construction progress and provide field observations as needed.
• Coordinate with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Mentor junior engineering and design staff.
• Assist with proposal development, client relationship management, and business growth initiatives.
• Maintain familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Significant experience designing building mechanical systems within a consulting engineering environment in the state of Florida.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
• Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard design software.
• Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to conduct site visits and travel periodically for project-related activities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience serving healthcare, education, government, commercial, institutional, or industrial clients.
• Background in project management and technical leadership.
• Experience reviewing the work of junior engineers and supporting staff development.
• Familiarity with building codes, energy standards, and industry best practices.
• Interest in business development and cultivating client relationships.
