A leading employee-focused mechanical construction contractor is seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to support and strengthen safety programs across active commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving field safety initiatives, ensuring OSHA compliance, conducting inspections, supporting training programs, and partnering with operations teams to maintain a strong safety culture across multiple job sites.
This role is ideal for a safety professional who enjoys being in the field, coaching employees, identifying risks before incidents occur, and helping project teams maintain world-class safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and comprehensive job site safety inspections on commercial construction projects
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and company safety regulations
- Identify hazards, unsafe work practices, and at-risk behaviors while recommending corrective actions
- Document inspections, observations, incident reports, corrective actions, and safety performance metrics
- Track and ensure timely resolution of safety deficiencies and non-compliance findings
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task plans, and daily safety documentation
- Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis
- Support emergency response efforts and provide assistance during workplace incidents
- Coordinate and facilitate safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee training programs
- Maintain training records, safety logs, inspection reports, and regulatory documentation
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field teams to champion a proactive safety culture
- Mentor junior safety professionals and support the development of less experienced team members
- Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives related to health, safety, and risk management
Requirements
- 4+ years of construction safety experience within commercial, industrial, mechanical, HVAC, piping, plumbing, manufacturing, or large-scale construction environments
- Experience conducting field safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices
- Experience leading or supporting safety training programs
- Background working directly with field personnel, subcontractors, and project leadership teams
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Equivalent construction safety experience will be considered
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) preferred
- ASP (Associate Safety Professional) preferred
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and OSHA 40 certifications required
- OSHA 500 preferred
- CPR and First Aid certifications required
