Senior Transit & Rail Project Manager

Overview

A growing employee-owned engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Senior Transit & Rail Project Manager to support and lead complex transportation projects throughout Washington State and the broader Pacific Northwest. This individual will oversee major transit initiatives, including rail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects, while managing multidisciplinary teams, driving project delivery, and supporting business development efforts with transit and transportation agencies.

This is an opportunity to play a key leadership role in expanding a well-established transit practice while delivering impactful infrastructure projects that improve mobility for communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Senior Project Manager for complex transit projects, including rail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) programs.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of project delivery.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks, and ensure successful project execution.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with transit agencies, municipalities, counties, and state transportation organizations.
• Support marketing, proposal development, and business development initiatives to expand project opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior staff while helping grow the transit and program management practice.
• Collaborate with technical leaders to enhance transportation service capabilities and project delivery excellence.

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Proven experience managing transit, rail, or major transportation infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and risk management.
• Experience with project financial management and contract administration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and client-facing abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate large volumes of project activities.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
• Experience working with public-sector transportation clients is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in transit, rail, transportation, or infrastructure project management.
• PMP, CCM, DBIA, or similar project management certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary transportation projects.
• Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience will be considered.
• Ability to travel as required based on project and client needs.
