Senior Underground Transmission Line Engineer | Remote
About the Opportunity
A growing engineering and consulting firm is seeking an Underground Transmission Line Engineer to join its expanding power delivery team. This is a remote opportunity for an engineer with hands-on underground transmission line experience who is looking to take on technically challenging utility projects while continuing to grow toward a senior-level position.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of transmission line engineering experience with direct underground transmission experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; however, candidates with an EIT who are actively working toward obtaining their PE will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering and design for underground high-voltage transmission line projects.
- Support projects from initial planning and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, and closeout.
- Develop and review underground transmission line designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist with cable system design, routing, constructability, and installation considerations for underground transmission projects.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, substation, environmental, and other engineering disciplines.
- Work directly with utility clients, project managers, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical support throughout project execution and construction.
- Ensure designs meet applicable utility standards, industry codes, project specifications, and QA/QC requirements.
- Manage multiple project priorities, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Support and mentor junior engineers and designers as experience allows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant transmission line engineering experience required.
- Direct underground transmission line engineering/design experience required.
- EIT certification required, with plans to obtain a PE license.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- Experience working on utility or power delivery projects.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, calculations, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a remote environment.
