Software Controls Engineer
We are seeking a Principal Platform Engineer with experience developing internal application tools and web services that support automation activities within highly regulated environments-ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who enjoys building secure, enterprise-grade platforms that streamline engineering and operational workflows.
You will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and governing the platforms, APIs, and delivery pipelines that power internal automation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong experience as a Platform Engineer or Senior Software Engineer, along with hands-on cloud architecture and CI/CD expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Platform & Application Development
- Build and evolve internal product platforms used across engineering and automation teams.
- Develop secure, role-based enterprise web applications for internal users.
- Design backend automation engines and APIs that enable streamlined automated workflows.
Cloud, CI/CD & Governance
- Own and manage enterprise CI/CD pipelines, including validation and regulatory compliance controls.
- Establish standards for cloud architecture, application deployment, and operational reliability.
- Ensure platforms adhere to industry regulations and internal governance requirements.
Regulated SaaS Delivery
- Deliver compliant internal SaaS applications suited for GxP, CSV, and pharma environments.
- Partner with automation, quality, and digital teams to ensure solutions meet validation expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience delivering web services, internal tools, or automation platforms.
- Prior experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries (strongly preferred).
- Expertise in backend development, API design, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of security, RBAC, and enterprise application design.
Required Certifications
- Microsoft AZ‑204 - Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft AZ‑400 - Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting automation, validation, or controls engineering teams.
- Familiarity with GxP, CSV, 21 CFR Part 11, or regulated system delivery.
- Experience designing internal SaaS solutions or automation orchestration frameworks.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD toolchains, IaC, and cloud governance.
- Ability to lead technical strategy, mentor engineers, and shape platform direction.
