Structural Engineer
Position Overview
An established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the United States. This role involves structural analysis and design, preparation of construction documents and calculations, oversight of design staff, and participation in construction administration activities. The ideal candidate will be a licensed engineer with strong technical expertise, project leadership experience, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with clients and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare structural calculations, engineering reports, and construction documents for a variety of building projects.
- Lead and coordinate structural design efforts from concept through construction.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to design engineers and CAD/Revit staff.
- Review project deliverables for technical accuracy and quality.
- Communicate directly with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and performing site observations.
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards, design procedures, and quality-control practices.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing.
- Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience with an emphasis on commercial building design.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing project assignments and supervising engineering and drafting personnel.
- Ability to make sound engineering decisions and effectively communicate technical information to project stakeholders.
- Proficiency with structural design and analysis software, including Revit Structure, RISA, Bentley, CSI, or similar platforms.
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with a variety of building types, such as office, institutional, multifamily, retail, healthcare, mixed-use, parking structures, and light industrial facilities preferred.
- Technical expertise across multiple structural materials and systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood construction.
