Structural Project Engineer

I'm partnering with a well-established structural engineering consulting firm in the South Bay that is looking to add a Project Engineer to its growing team.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who wants more than simply producing calculations and drawings. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients and architects, and develop the technical and leadership skills needed to advance toward Project Management and senior technical roles.

The firm is known for its hands-on culture, lean project teams, and commitment to engineering excellence, allowing engineers to have a visible impact on project outcomes rather than being a small part of a large organization.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead structural design efforts on a variety of building projects from concept through construction.
  • Collaborate directly with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Perform structural analysis and develop practical design solutions utilizing steel, concrete, and wood systems.
  • Coordinate project deliverables, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in site investigations, construction support, and client meetings.
  • Review project progress and ensure quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Contribute to proposal efforts and support business development initiatives when appropriate.
  • Work closely with senior leadership while taking on increasing project responsibility.

What They're Looking For

  • 3-10 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • California PE or SE license, or ability to obtain licensure in the near future.
  • Experience designing building structures utilizing common structural materials.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, building systems, and construction practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to take ownership of work and continue growing professionally.

Why Engineers Are Interested

  • Exposure to a diverse portfolio of building projects.
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced technical leaders and decision-makers.
  • Greater project ownership and client interaction than is often available in larger organizations.
  • Clear path toward Project Manager, Senior Engineer, and leadership positions.
  • Collaborative environment that values technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Hybrid work flexibility.
  • Competitive compensation package in the $100,000-$150,000 range.
