Structural Project Manager
We are working with a structural engineering group that is looking for an engineer who can take ownership of project tasks while working closely with the Engineer of Record. This role supports the structural team through design, analysis, and documentation, and keeps coordination steady with architecture, MEP, and other partners involved in each project.
The position also oversees construction phase work. That includes reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, joining OAC meetings, and completing site walks. Responsibilities
- Join coordination and design review meetings with clients, owners, and partner disciplines
- Meet with client and agency teams to review scope and discuss structural design direction
- Manage design tasks and documentation to support project schedules and budgets
- Develop structural specifications, select materials, size members, and complete necessary calculations
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and change requests and update project documents as needed
- Communicate design intent and coordination needs clearly in writing and in meetings
- Conduct construction site observations and prepare clear, organized reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis. A master's is a plus
- Structural engineering license in the candidate's state of residence if required
- At least 5 years of progressive structural engineering experience
- Three or more years coordinating multi discipline project teams is preferred
- For California based roles, experience with DSA is highly desirable
- Solid knowledge of building codes and standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, and NDS
- Proficiency with tools like ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, Excel, and Bluebeam
- Experience with steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
