Survey Crew Chief
Our client, a regional, employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to support land surveying and construction staking projects across Michigan. This is a great opportunity for a skilled field professional with 5+ years of experience who enjoys working outdoors, leading crews, and contributing to high-impact infrastructure projects.
The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for:
- Leading field survey crews on boundary, topographic, and construction staking projects
- Operating GPS, robotic total stations, and other survey equipment
- Interpreting plans and coordinating with project managers and engineers
- Ensuring accurate data collection and field documentation
- Training and mentoring junior crew members
- Maintaining equipment and managing field logistics
- Communicating with clients and contractors on-site
- Supporting QA/QC and safety protocols
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5 years of field surveying experience
- Strong knowledge of survey methods and equipment
- Experience with construction staking and boundary surveys
- Familiarity with MDOT standards and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and legal descriptions
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel statewide as needed
