  • Deliver transportation design solutions for NCDOT roadway and highway projects, as well as municipal streetscapes and pedestrian improvement initiatives.
  • Apply NCDOT traffic signal design standards and MUTCD guidelines to produce high-quality engineering deliverables.
  • Perform field investigations, construction inspections, and traffic signal equipment inventories to support project development and implementation.
  • Coordinate with clients, public agencies, and internal project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with project management activities, including scope development, budget tracking, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, public presentations, and business development efforts as needed.

The Traffic Engineer (PE) should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or the ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads, GeoPak, and corridor modeling software.
  • Experience with NCDOT design standards; VDOT experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, including traffic impact analyses, capacity studies, signal timing plans, pavement markings, and signing.
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience, project management capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to work on high-visibility transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Stable backlog of NCDOT, municipal, and agency work.
  • Clear path for professional growth, leadership, and project management responsibilities.
