About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join our growing Phoenix team. This individual will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. The ideal candidate will have experience working on water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, lift stations, pipelines, treatment facilities, and related infrastructure projects. Relevant project experience commonly includes waterlines, sewer lines, pump stations, lift stations, treatment facilities, and municipal infrastructure design.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
- Design water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, pump stations, force mains, wells, and treatment facility improvements.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal multidiscipline teams.
- Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and engineering analyses.
- Support permitting efforts and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in construction administration activities including RFIs, submittal reviews, change orders, and site visits.
- Mentor junior engineers and engineering designers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to project delivery and business development initiatives. These responsibilities align with project delivery, client coordination, proposal support, construction administration, and mentoring activities found in similar Phoenix-area engineering roles.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering consulting.
- Experience designing municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of water distribution, wastewater collection, and pump station design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona or ability to obtain through reciprocity within six months.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing project tasks, budgets, and client relationships.
- Familiarity with Arizona municipalities and permitting requirements.

Estimated Compensation: $105,000-$145,000+ depending on experience, PE status, and project management responsibilities (market-dependent).
