What You'll Do
As a Transmission Line Engineer, you will support the planning, design, and execution of overhead transmission line projects for utility clients throughout North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Design overhead transmission line projects including new construction, rebuilds, relocations, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction packages.
- Develop designs in accordance with client requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
- Perform line routing, structural loading, sag and tension, and foundation analyses.
- Utilize industry-standard transmission line design software to develop and review engineering packages.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, substation, environmental, survey, and permitting professionals.
- Review engineering calculations, drawings, and deliverables for accuracy and quality.
- Support project proposals, estimating efforts, and client presentations.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including field support and design clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of experience designing overhead transmission systems.
- Proficiency with transmission line design software.
- Strong understanding of utility design standards and applicable industry codes.
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, and construction drawing packages.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progression toward professional licensure.
- Experience supporting transmission projects across a variety of voltage classes.
- Experience with transmission line structural and foundation design software.
- Previous experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, and serving as a technical resource.
