Transportation Engineer
The Transportation Engineer 2 will be responsible for:
- Developing roadway and intersection alignments, right-of-way plans, drainage plans, signing and marking plans, and construction phasing plans.
- Supporting project managers through efficient plan production while making sound independent engineering and design decisions.
- Preparing cross sections and profiles utilizing MicroStation, InRoads, and OpenRoads while adhering to GDOT standards and requirements.
- Coordinating with utility providers to facilitate utility relocation efforts and maintain project schedules.
- Performing hydrology, drainage, erosion control, and BMP design tasks, including phased ES&PC plans.
- Preparing project cost estimates and anticipating project needs related to scope, budget, schedule, and client expectations.
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented engineering environment.
The Transportation Engineer 2 should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 4 years of transportation design and engineering experience.
- Georgia Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia preferred.
- Strong proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads, including experience developing transportation design plans.
- Working knowledge of Hydraflow, Storm Sewer, HEC-1, and HEC-2 software for drainage and hydraulic analysis.
- Experience with GDOT standards, including the Project Development Process (PDP), Plan Presentation Guide (PPG), and Engineering Design Guidelines (EDG).
- Strong communication, coordination, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
