Job Summary

A well‑established, employee‑owned engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to support and deliver roadway and multimodal transportation projects across the United States. This is a full‑time position offering a hybrid work environment, with flexibility to work remotely several days per week based on project needs and team coordination.

This role is ideal for an experienced transportation engineer with strong project management skills who enjoys leading teams, solving design challenges, and working directly with clients and stakeholder agencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality transportation design projects while supporting business development and team growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multi‑disciplinary project teams in the delivery of transportation design projects, with a focus on multimodal roadway improvements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, internal project teams, and external stakeholder agencies.
  • Manage all technical and managerial resources assigned to projects, including coordination of subconsultants.
  • Prepare task proposals and establish project scopes, schedules, budgets, and pricing.
  • Develop project management plans and prepare regular progress and status reports.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules to support on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
  • Lead or participate in client meetings and project presentations.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews of design submittals and deliverables.
  • Mentor, train, and support the professional development of junior staff.
  • Assist with production tasks as needed, including preparation of CADD drawings, reports, and project graphics.
  • Support group and division leadership with business development efforts and proposal preparation.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with team members, project managers, supervisors, and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more United States jurisdictions.
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in roadway, highway, and traffic control plan preparation.
  • Demonstrated project management experience on transportation design projects.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads and or AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing quality and deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to identify and resolve project risks and design challenges.
  • Experience building, motivating, and mentoring project teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative team environments.
