Job Title: Vice President - Senior Environmental Engineer
Location: New York
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000
Position Overview:
A full-service environmental consulting organization is seeking a Vice President of Environmental Engineering to support environmental compliance, engineering, and regulatory initiatives across air, waste, and water programs. This role is responsible for leading engineering and capital improvement projects, overseeing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The position requires strong technical expertise in permitting, emissions reporting, and environmental systems, as well as the ability to mentor staff and manage client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and capital improvement projects, including specification development and bid review.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects.
- Manage air permitting and compliance efforts, including Title V permitting and emissions reporting.
- Prepare and review engineering feasibility studies and environmental compliance reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and agency requirements.
- Assist clients with permitting processes, including demand response and peak shaving program enrollment.
- Solicit bids, coordinate stack testing, and manage regulatory notifications and reporting.
- Oversee system design, installation, and construction in coordination with technical teams.
- Delegate tasks to junior staff and provide mentorship and technical guidance.
- Communicate with clients to define project requirements, provide updates, and support delivery.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental engineering or project management.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State.
- Knowledge of federal and state air, waste, and water regulations.
- Experience with Title V permitting, emissions reporting, and compliance assessments.
- Familiarity with RCRA, CERCLA, and Clean Water Act (CWA) regulations.
- Knowledge of stationary combustion systems and related infrastructure.
- Experience conducting cooling tower inspections.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Experience with New York City regulatory requirements and local laws.
- Knowledge of NYCDOB, FDNY, and related compliance frameworks.
- Experience preparing Tier II chemical inventory and energy benchmarking reports.
- Background in coordinating design, installation, and construction activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and perform financial analysis.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or technical staff.
- Strong client communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Experience supporting complex compliance and permitting processes.
