Water Resources Market Lead
Our client is seeking a Water Resources Market Lead to drive the growth of its stormwater, drainage, and hydrology & hydraulics (H&H) practice throughout Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a seller-doer who combines strong technical expertise with established municipal relationships and a proven ability to win and deliver work.
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the firm's regional presence by leading client development efforts, managing projects, and serving as a trusted advisor to municipalities, transportation agencies, authorities, and public-sector clients. The Opportunity
This role is focused on developing and delivering water resources projects involving:
- Hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling
- Stormwater management and drainage design
- Watershed studies and planning
- Floodplain analysis and flood mitigation
- Culvert and bridge hydraulic evaluations
- MS4 and municipal stormwater programs
- Green infrastructure and resilience initiatives
- Local, county, and state transportation drainage projects
As the regional Water Resources Market Lead, you will be responsible for growing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, leading proposals, and overseeing successful project execution across Western Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts for water resources and stormwater engineering projects throughout Western Pennsylvania.
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, authorities, watershed organizations, transportation agencies, and teaming partners.
- Serve as Project Manager on H&H, stormwater, drainage, and water resources projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Identify, pursue, and capture new project opportunities with municipal and public-sector clients.
- Lead and support proposal development, interviews, and strategic pursuit planning.
- Provide technical leadership for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies and drainage analyses.
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams delivering stormwater, flood mitigation, and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate technical resources across offices and disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and support the continued growth of the regional water resources team.
- Serve as a visible representative of the firm within professional organizations and the local engineering community.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in water resources, stormwater, drainage, or civil infrastructure engineering.
- Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for municipal and public-sector projects.
- Experience managing water resources projects from planning through final design and implementation.
- Existing relationships with municipalities, authorities, transportation agencies, and consulting partners across Western Pennsylvania.
- Demonstrated success winning and delivering engineering projects.
- Proven ability to operate in a seller-doer capacity, balancing client development with project execution.
- Experience with industry-standard modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PondPack, ICPR, SWMM, HydroCAD, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with firm leadership and technical teams.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania.
- Experience leading or growing a regional water resources practice.
- Familiarity with PennDOT, municipal, county, and authority clients throughout Pennsylvania.
- Established reputation within the local water resources and stormwater engineering market.
