Job Role Overview: As a Geotechnical Project Manager based in Orlando, you will play a critical role in leading and managing geotechnical engineering projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, commercial development, residential construction, and environmental remediation. Reporting to the Director of Geotechnical Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing project execution, ensuring technical excellence, fostering client relationships, and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, design, and implementation of geotechnical investigations, analyses, and solutions.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of project deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
Client Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, including developers, contractors, government agencies, and private organizations.
- Collaborate with clients to understand project objectives, requirements, and constraints, and provide tailored geotechnical solutions to meet their needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Expertise:
- Apply advanced knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, foundation design, and construction materials to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Conduct geotechnical analyses, including slope stability analysis, settlement analysis, and seismic analysis, using industry-standard software and methodologies.
- Review and interpret geotechnical data, laboratory test results, and field observations to develop practical and cost-effective design recommendations.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and best practices in geotechnical engineering and construction.
- Review technical reports, drawings, specifications, and calculations prepared by project team members to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
- Implement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) measures to maintain the highest standards of quality and accuracy in project deliverables.
Team Collaboration:
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, knowledge sharing, and professional development among project team members.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including geotechnical engineers, geologists, CAD technicians, and field personnel, to optimize project performance and resource utilization.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior staff members, facilitating their growth and development within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Florida, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of employment.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of managing projects in Orlando or the surrounding area.
- Strong technical proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software, such as gINT, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
- Proven leadership abilities, including project management, client management, and team coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local geology, soil conditions, and regulatory requirements in Orlando and Central Florida is desirable.
