Substation Design Engineer
This position is a full-time position based in either College Station, TX or Waco, TX on a hybrid or in-person basis.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Protection & Control (P&C) systems or Physical design aspects for substation projects.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis for substation equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and review substation drawings, schematics, and layouts.
- Perform relay coordination studies, fault analysis, and protection system testing to optimize substation performance.
- Evaluate and select appropriate substation equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of substation projects.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including utilities, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to address project requirements and approvals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in substation engineering, with a focus on either P&C systems or Physical design.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to substation design and operation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Certifications (if applicable):
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in Protection & Control or Physical design.
