Position Overview: Seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our transmission network. As a Transmission Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing the transmission system to meet current and future demands, while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of the transmission network, including load flow studies, transient stability analysis, short circuit analysis, and voltage stability assessments.
- Develop transmission system models using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, or similar, to simulate and evaluate system performance under various operating conditions and contingencies.
- Identify transmission system bottlenecks, reliability issues, and areas for optimization through detailed technical analysis.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including system operators, planners, and engineers, to develop long-term transmission plans and strategies that support the company's objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of transmission expansion plans, including the evaluation of new transmission projects, upgrades, and reinforcements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations based on transmission studies and analyses to support decision-making processes and regulatory filings.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments related to transmission planning and grid modernization.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the resolution of transmission system issues and challenges as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in transmission planning, system modeling, or related fields within the power industry. (Multiple levels available - from junior level up to senior/principal/lead)
- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSSE, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of transmission system operation, planning principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses and develop innovative solutions to transmission system challenges.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure is preferred.
