Director of Technical Operations - New Jersey
My Client is seeking a dynamic Director of Technical Operations to lead their team of experienced audiovisual technicians based in New Jersey.
This position is the lead technical role within the company and serves as the base for all technical capabilities and offerings to our clients. A successful candidate will have the necessary technical background, which includes overall knowledge of audio and video staging technologies, virtual technologies, lighting, basic set design and the leadership skills and people management experience.
This position requires a desire for complete customer satisfaction, highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent problem-solving skills. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, develop, and cultivate, our technical team with a focus on providing innovative and value-added audiovisual staging solutions to our clients.
Role overview, requirements and responsibilities:
* A minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrated in A/V event industry, managing large rooms (1000+ pax).
* Experience in overseeing large events technical production as it relates to sound, lighting, video, rigging, scenic, labor, and broadcast (virtual) services.
* Experience in coaching, training, developing and managing technical teams.
* Identifying and developing innovative internal technical skillsets and capabilities.
* Identifying innovative technology that helps to support and expand customer needs.
* Managing the technical team workload.
* Providing specific technical support on client events across the company.
* In conjunction with the warehouse staff, ensuring equipment is maintained and up-to-date.
* This position requires a passion for customer satisfaction, highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and excellent problem-solving skills.
* Effective time management skills, with strong organization and prioritization abilities.
* Exceptional communication skills/abilities such as developing schedules, determining labor and equipment specifications.
* Working with resource coordination to screen/identify additional freelance support.
* A positive, can-do attitude with a desire to continually improve performance.
* Love for the latest AV technology industry trends.
* Ability to schedule, travel to and manage technical staff on site, manage relationships with vendors and technical staff, and most importantly can oversee and manage complex events with client experience and budget in mind.
* Travel up to 15% of the time.
