Our client is currently seeking a Building Sciences Technician to join their Building Sciences Team. As a crucial member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in various projects focusing on hazardous materials within the built environment, including lead, asbestos, and mold.
Under the guidance of a Senior Consultant, you will undertake a range of responsibilities, including conducting thorough building-related hazardous materials surveys, crafting scopes of work, supervising remediation activities, and offering technical support to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct building inspections to identify hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, and other relevant substances across different job-site environments.
- Conduct air monitoring and inspections during the remediation processes of asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials.
- Develop and execute sampling plans tailored to hazardous materials.
- Analyze and interpret data from hazardous materials sampling.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports detailing hazardous materials findings and recommendations.
- Provide clients with technical guidance on issues related to hazardous materials.
- Stay abreast of the latest hazardous materials regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Hold an AA or BA/BS degree in environmental science, construction management, engineering, or industrial hygiene, coupled with at least six months of pertinent experience.
- Possess a robust understanding of identifying, managing, and overseeing the remediation of building-related hazardous materials.
- Demonstrate proficiency in building construction practices and exhibit familiarity with Cal/OSHA requirements.
- Preferred certification as a CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician) accredited by Cal/OSHA.
- Additional certifications such as NIOSH 582 (or equivalent), CDPH Inspector Assessor, and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER are highly advantageous.
