Project Manager - Heavy Civil / Public Utilities

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 DOE + Benefits

A well-respected heavy civil contractor in the Salt Lake City area is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a growing portfolio of public utility and infrastructure work. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction-focused PM who enjoys managing projects from award through closeout while working closely with field operations.

Position Overview

The Project Manager will oversee a mix of public utility and heavy civil projects throughout northern Utah. Depending on project size, the successful candidate will manage 1-3 projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from award through completion
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and forecasts
  • Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and owners
  • Oversee procurement, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Monitor cost performance and project profitability
  • Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and company standards

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
  • Strong background in:
    • Public utilities (water, sewer, storm drain)
    • Excavation and earthwork
    • Municipal and civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing multiple projects at one time
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
