About the Opportunity
A leading commercial roofing and building envelope contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its growing New York City team. With a strong backlog of work and an established reputation in the market, the company delivers complex roofing, waterproofing, reroofing, and exterior envelope projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, and mixed-use facilities.
While the primary search is focused on Assistant Project Managers, the company is also open to considering experienced Project Managers and Senior Project Managers with a commercial roofing background.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing commercial roofing projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
- Track project schedules, budgets, procurement, and material deliveries.
- Support change order pricing, contract administration, and cost control efforts.
- Prepare and manage project documentation, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
- Work closely with Superintendents to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Assist with invoicing, forecasting, and project financial reporting.
- Participate in project turnover, punch list completion, and warranty closeout.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in commercial roofing, building envelope, waterproofing, or related construction sectors.
- Experience with low-slope roofing systems, including:
- TPO
- EPDM
- PVC
- Modified Bitumen
- Built-Up Roofing (BUR)
- Understanding of reroofing, roof replacement, leak investigations, preventative maintenance programs, and waterproofing systems.
- Familiarity with submittals, RFIs, change orders, schedules, and project financial management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience using Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software is preferred.
