Development Manager, Renewables
Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, development, and execution of utility-scale renewable and generation projects aligned with corporate investment objectives.
- Assist in negotiating and managing development agreements, commercial contracts, and project-related arrangements.
- Lead and coordinate project permitting activities while proactively identifying and mitigating development risks.
- Build and maintain local stakeholder and community support for project initiatives.
- Develop relationships with prospective energy offtakers and support commercial discussions and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams including engineering, finance, commercial/origination, legal, external affairs, and asset management.
- Manage and direct external consultants, technical advisors, and subject matter experts.
- Track project schedules, budgets, risks, and key deliverables, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
- Support project evaluation and strategic decision-making through market and commercial analysis.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of relevant energy project development experience, preferably within renewable energy or power infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree required; Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. MBA is a plus.
- Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, regional transmission organizations (ISOs/RTOs), and renewable energy development drivers.
- Familiarity with state renewable energy policies, Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), and related market incentives.
- Financial modeling and analytical capabilities, including project economics, pro forma analysis, NPV, IRR, and P&L understanding.
- Knowledge of real estate, land control, and associated project development considerations.
- Ability to evaluate complex information and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated professional capable of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Ability to travel approximately 30-50% as required.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background and financial screening requirements.
