Position Summary

My client is seeking a talented Interior Designer with 5-10 years of professional experience to join its Kansas City team. This individual will play a key role in leading interior design projects from programming and concept development through construction administration, working closely with clients, architects, consultants, and project teams to create inspiring and functional environments.

The ideal candidate is a creative and technically skilled designer with strong project coordination abilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support interior design projects through all phases of design and construction.
  • Develop programming, space planning, and interior design concepts that align with client goals and project requirements.
  • Prepare presentations, finish palettes, material selections, furniture plans, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce and oversee detailed construction documents, specifications, and interior detailing.
  • Conduct client meetings, design presentations, and product reviews.
  • Participate in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) selection and coordination.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and finish samples during construction.
  • Perform site visits and assist with construction administration activities.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of professional interior design experience.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of interior construction, detailing, building systems, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Revit required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Familiarity with FF&E specifications, finish selections, and vendor coordination.
  • Understanding of building codes, accessibility requirements, and life safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on commercial, workplace, education, civic, mixed-use, hospitality, or community-focused projects.
  • Experience leading client-facing presentations and coordinating project teams.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and wellness-focused environments.
  • Strong rendering, visualization, and graphic presentation skills.
