A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of impactful power infrastructure projects. You'll play a key role in projects spanning utility, industrial, mission-critical, institutional, and commercial sectors, leading multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction while advancing your career in a collaborative and technically driven environment.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership & Client Management
- Lead the successful execution of electrical engineering projects from proposal development through design, construction, and project closeout.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Drive project success by proactively managing risks, schedules, and deliverables.
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design and review of low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and designers.
- Review engineering calculations, specifications, studies, and construction documents to ensure technical excellence.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, regulations, utility requirements, and industry best practices.
Business Development & Relationship Building
- Develop and strengthen long-term relationships with clients, utilities, contractors, and industry partners.
- Support proposal development, fee estimates, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and expanded project engagements.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, technology, and other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate with utilities, regulatory agencies, contractors, and governing authorities.
- Support construction administration efforts, including RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, and project closeout activities.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC, utility standards, and client requirements.
- Champion quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Contribute to process improvements and engineering best practices across the organization.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a strong focus on power systems and power infrastructure.
- Proven success managing complex engineering projects and client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
- Experience performing or overseeing power system studies, including:
- Short-circuit analysis
- Coordination studies
- Arc flash studies
- Load flow analysis
- Voltage drop analysis
- Experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar software.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Utility, industrial, mission-critical, institutional, or large commercial projects.
- Protection & Controls (P&C) systems and SCADA integration.
- Substation, transmission, and medium-voltage infrastructure projects.
- Business development and proposal preparation.
- Cost estimating and project financial management.
- Relay programming experience (SEL, ABB, GE, or similar).
- PMP certification.
