Electrical Project Engineer (MEP)

A multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer (PE preferred, not required) to support the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects in their Columbus, Ohio office. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional project teams and contribute to projects serving healthcare, commercial, institutional, and industrial clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and life-safety systems.
  • Develop engineering calculations, construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and existing system evaluations.
  • Prepare reports, studies, and permit-related documentation.
  • Manage multiple project assignments while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience in electrical design, consulting, or engineering project delivery.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, Engineer in Training (EIT) license required.
  • Experience with electrical power system studies, including coordination and arc flash evaluations.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and modeling software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and engage directly with clients.

Preferred Experience

  • Design experience involving commercial, institutional, industrial, or municipal facilities.
  • Familiarity with lighting, power distribution, and emergency/life-safety systems.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes.
