About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Field Crew Leader to join a growing land surveying team. This position is ideal for a motivated survey professional who enjoys working in the field, leading survey operations, and mentoring junior staff. The Field Crew Leader will be responsible for overseeing daily survey activities, ensuring quality and accuracy, and coordinating with project managers and office personnel to successfully execute projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct daily field surveying operations for a wide variety of projects.
- Manage and work alongside an Instrument Technician on a day-to-day basis.
- Occasionally provide oversight and coordination for additional survey crews working on the same project site.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, including GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and other surveying instruments.
- Ensure survey work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Survey CAD Technicians to provide field data and project updates.
- Maintain detailed field notes, records, and documentation.
- Adhere to company safety standards and promote a culture of safety on all project sites.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders as needed.
- Troubleshoot field challenges and make sound decisions to keep projects moving forward.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of land surveying field experience.
- Proven experience leading survey crews and field operations.
- Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, construction staking, and related survey services.
- Proficiency with modern survey equipment and field software.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and survey documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be in Atlanta Metro Area
This position reports directly to company leadership and will also receive project-specific direction from Project Managers.
Travel
Travel requirements vary based on project needs. Approximately 70-80% of projects are local, with occasional travel required for select assignments.
