Job Description
We are seeking a California Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead survey operations and oversee a diverse portfolio of mapping, boundary, and topographic survey projects. This individual will work closely with an experienced team while serving as the primary technical resource and licensed authority for the survey group.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage survey projects from proposal through final deliverables
- Perform boundary analysis and survey research
- Review and certify survey maps and legal documents
- Prepare and oversee boundary, topographic, and record mapping projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to survey staff
- Coordinate with engineers, clients, agencies, and project stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with California surveying laws and regulations
- Conduct quality control reviews of survey products and deliverables
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
- Participate in field investigations as needed
Qualifications
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
- Experience managing boundary and topographic survey projects
- Strong understanding of California land surveying principles and practices
- Experience reviewing and signing maps, legal descriptions, and survey documents
- Knowledge of survey data processing and mapping software
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to mentor junior staff and help develop team capabilities
- Public agency, municipal, or school district project experience is a plus
Compensation
- Base salary of $140,000 - $200,000 depending on experience
