Position Overview

We are seeking a Fire Protection & Plumbing Associate Director to provide technical and operational leadership for a growing team supporting mission-critical and data center projects across the United States.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing fire protection and plumbing engineering operations, driving department initiatives, supporting client relationships, mentoring teams, and helping shape strategic growth plans. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership to improve processes, develop talent, ensure technical excellence, and support the successful delivery of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Support organizational growth through talent development, succession planning, and team expansion initiatives.
  • Identify operational improvements and implement processes that enhance efficiency, quality, and project execution.
  • Lead change management initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Team & Department Management

  • Oversee staffing, resource allocation, budgeting, and workload planning for fire protection and plumbing teams.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, quality assurance programs, and best practices.
  • Mentor technical staff and emerging leaders while supporting professional development initiatives.
  • Drive collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Client & Program Leadership

  • Serve as a senior client-facing leader, developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the successful execution of large-scale programs and projects from planning through delivery.
  • Manage escalated client issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support business development efforts, identify new opportunities, and contribute to revenue growth strategies.
  • Monitor program performance, financial metrics, and key performance indicators.

Technology & Innovation

  • Champion the use of technology, data analytics, and digital tools to improve project delivery and operational performance.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, workflow automation, and reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology adoption aligns with security, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Promote innovation and scalable solutions throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 13+ years of experience in fire protection, plumbing, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, programs, and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, resource planning, budgeting, and operational management.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, hyperscale, or other technically complex projects.
  • Background in strategic planning, organizational development, or business operations.
  • Experience with digital project delivery platforms, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client account management.
