Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Marine & Coastal Infrastructure)

Location: Flexible (Remote/Hybrid Available)
Salary: $160,000 - $175,000 Base + Bonus + Equity Opportunity

Be the Geotechnical Authority for a Specialist Engineering Consultancy

We are partnering with a highly respected international engineering consultancy that specializes in some of the world's most complex projects where water meets land.

With offices across North America, South America, Australia, and the Caribbean, this firm has built a reputation for delivering innovative solutions across:

  • Coastal restoration
  • Ports and marine terminals
  • Waterfront infrastructure
  • Shoreline protection
  • Hurricane recovery
  • Marine and bridge rehabilitation
  • Hydraulic infrastructure

Unlike large corporate consultancies, this organization offers a genuinely collaborative environment with a flat structure, high levels of autonomy, and exceptionally low staff turnover.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will become the firm's go-to Geotechnical Subject Matter Expert, providing technical leadership and guidance across projects nationwide.

You will work directly with multidisciplinary teams supporting major marine, coastal, waterfront, and hydraulic infrastructure projects while helping shape the future technical direction of the business.

This role offers a rare opportunity to influence projects across an entire organization rather than operating within a siloed geotechnical department.

For the right individual, there is also a clear pathway toward future leadership and ownership within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the firm's internal geotechnical subject matter expert
  • Provide technical leadership on marine, coastal, waterfront and hydraulic infrastructure projects
  • Support project teams across multiple offices and disciplines
  • Lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design reviews
  • Review technical reports, specifications, and construction recommendations
  • Advise project managers and technical teams throughout project delivery
  • Conduct independent quality assurance reviews
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Contribute technical expertise during proposals and project pursuits

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Strong technical expertise in marine, coastal, waterfront, or hydraulic infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting public-sector or government-funded projects
  • Familiarity with USACE, Department of Defense, Navy, or similar federal clients is highly desirable
  • Ability to operate independently and provide expert-level technical guidance
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • U.S. project experience required

Ideal Backgrounds

We're particularly interested in professionals with experience in:

  • Marine geotechnics
  • Coastal engineering and geotechnical design
  • Port and terminal developments
  • Dams and levees
  • Waterfront foundations
  • Coastal resilience and restoration projects
  • Hydraulic infrastructure
  • Ground improvement in marine environments

  • Long-term opportunity to acquire equity and progress toward Principal-level leadership

Global Project Exposure

  • Work on landmark coastal, marine, and waterfront developments worldwide

Flexible Working

  • Hybrid and remote options available for exceptional candidates

Collaborative Culture
