Head of Modular Data Center Engineering

About the Company

Our client is an early-stage infrastructure company building one of the most critical layers of the AI ecosystem: power. As demand for AI compute continues to grow, traditional utility timelines are becoming a major bottleneck for new data center development. This company is solving that challenge by developing modular, behind-the-meter power solutions that can be deployed in a fraction of the time required for conventional infrastructure.

Founded by experienced entrepreneurs with successful exits in the technology sector, the organization is combining expertise across power, real estate, and computing infrastructure to enable the next generation of AI data centers. Backed by a well-capitalized leadership team and operating at the intersection of energy and artificial intelligence, they're tackling one of the industry's most pressing challenges: bringing power online fast enough to support the AI revolution.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Head of Modular Engineering to lead the development, manufacturing, and scale-up of modular power generation systems used to support high-density AI infrastructure.

Reporting directly to the founders, this individual will own the complete engineering lifecycle of the company's modular power product line, from architecture and design through manufacturing, testing, and deployment. This is a highly visible leadership role with significant influence over product strategy, technical direction, and operational scale.

The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority for the platform while building and leading the engineering and manufacturing teams responsible for bringing these systems to market.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Defining the technical architecture of modular power generation systems, including generation, controls, switchgear, energy storage, cooling, and auxiliary systems
  • Leading multidisciplinary engineering efforts across electrical, mechanical, controls, and structural disciplines
  • Establishing technical standards, performance requirements, and quality benchmarks
  • Managing relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and integration partners
  • Driving manufacturing readiness, assembly processes, factory testing, and quality programs
  • Scaling production capacity to support rapid deployment across multiple projects
  • Overseeing system performance, efficiency, reliability, emissions compliance, and operational readiness
  • Building and leading a high-performing engineering and manufacturing organization

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in modular power generation, distributed energy, microgrids, temporary power, electric frac power, or similar sectors
  • Proven success designing and deploying packaged power systems supporting mission-critical operations
  • Strong understanding of generators, turbines, switchgear, controls, energy storage systems, and power integration
  • Experience working with leading equipment manufacturers and supply chain partners
  • Background scaling engineered products from concept through production
  • Familiarity with emissions requirements, power quality standards, and critical infrastructure environments
  • Ability to attract, mentor, and lead top engineering talent

Target Backgrounds

We're particularly interested in professionals from organizations involved in modular generation, distributed energy, microgrids, temporary power, or rapidly deployable infrastructure solutions, including leading players across the power generation and AI infrastructure sectors.

Compensation

  • Highly competitive base salary
  • Meaningful equity participation
  • Executive leadership visibility
  • Opportunity to help build a company at the forefront of AI infrastructure and power innovation
