Are you an experienced Transportation Construction Inspector looking to take on a lead role with greater responsibility and visibility on PennDOT projects?
We're working with a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm seeking a Lead Construction Technician to support roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Western Pennsylvania. This position offers the opportunity to oversee critical inspection activities, work directly with contractors and project stakeholders, and play a key role in delivering high-profile transportation improvements.

Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day construction inspection activities on transportation projects
- Ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and agency personnel
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, project documentation, and construction records
- Track quantities, material usage, and project progress
- Review shop drawings and contractor submittals
- Assist with progress estimates, pay quantities, and payment recommendations
- Monitor construction activities for quality, safety, and specification compliance
- Support successful project delivery from construction kickoff through completion
Qualifications
- Minimum 6+ years of transportation, highway, bridge, or construction inspection experience
- PennDOT construction inspection experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of transportation construction practices and documentation requirements
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience preparing daily reports and maintaining project records
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
- Valid driver's license
Education
One of the following:
- High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience
- Associate's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Related degree combined with PennDOT TCI training modules
Preferred Certifications
Highly desirable certifications include:
- NICET Highway Construction Level II or higher
- NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician
- ACI Concrete Field Technician Grade I
- PennDOT Concrete Certification
- PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
- OSHA 10-Hour
- ECMS Experience
