Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our growing San Antonio team. This individual will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects across Texas, with a strong focus on TxDOT and municipal clients. The ideal candidate will have experience leading bridge design projects, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a technical resource for complex transportation projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of bridge, culvert, retaining wall, and related transportation structures projects.
- Manage bridge projects for TxDOT, cities, counties, and local government agencies throughout Texas.
- Prepare and oversee PS&E packages, design calculations, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
- Perform structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, and prestressed bridge structures.
- Coordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, geotechnical, and utility teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Interface directly with clients, subconsultants, and agency stakeholders.
- Support project pursuits, proposal preparation, and business development efforts.
- Mentor and develop EITs and junior engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with TxDOT, AASHTO, and applicable municipal design standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- 8+ years of bridge engineering experience.
- Strong experience working on TxDOT bridge projects.
- Experience delivering projects for municipalities, counties, or local agencies preferred.
- Proficiency with:
- MicroStation
- OpenBridge Designer (OBD)
- OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- LEAP Bridge
- STAAD, SAP2000, MIDAS, or similar structural analysis software
- Familiarity with TxDOT Bridge Design Manual and AASHTO LRFD specifications.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- TxDOT PM experience.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary transportation projects.
- Existing relationships with TxDOT districts, City of San Antonio, Bexar County, or local municipal agencies.
- Desire to mentor staff and contribute to the growth of a bridge practice.
