Our client, a nationally recognized multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm, is seeking a Practice Leader - Civil Engineering to lead the growth and expansion of its Columbus, Ohio operation. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial land development professional looking to build a team, expand client relationships, and drive the strategic growth of a thriving civil engineering practice.
The Opportunity
As Practice Leader, you will be responsible for driving business development, growing market share, and overseeing a diverse portfolio of land development projects. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help shape the future of the Columbus office while developing and mentoring a high-performing team of engineers and project managers.
This role offers significant autonomy, access to multidisciplinary resources, and the opportunity to play a key role in expanding the firm's presence throughout Ohio and the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts and secure new project opportunities.
- Strengthen and maintain relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategic growth plans alongside regional leadership.
- Build, mentor, and lead multidisciplinary civil engineering teams.
- Direct site and civil engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Oversee site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion and sediment control.
- Manage the design and permitting of residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, institutional, and distribution developments.
- Coordinate with environmental, geotechnical, and other technical teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 15+ years of site/civil engineering experience with a strong focus on land development.
- Proven track record of business development, client management, and revenue generation.
- Extensive experience in site design, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management.
- Experience leading projects from initial concept through permitting and construction.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
- Proposal preparation and technical writing experience.

- Base Salary: $180,000- $250,000
