Professional Land Surveyor | TN

We are seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join a growing surveying team supporting a variety of transportation, land development, utility, and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed surveyor looking to take on project leadership responsibilities, mentor junior staff, and contribute to high-profile projects throughout the region.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveying, along with experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage survey projects from proposal through final deliverables.
  • Oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, and construction surveys.
  • Prepare and review plats, legal descriptions, survey reports, and mapping products.
  • Coordinate field crews, office technicians, and subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with state surveying regulations and company quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior survey staff.
  • Support business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with engineering, GIS, and project management teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Review project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.

Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of land surveying experience.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary determination, easements, legal descriptions, and survey principles.
  • Experience with survey software such as Carlson, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with GNSS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, and other modern surveying technologies.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Transportation and DOT-related survey projects.
  • Utility corridor, right-of-way, and infrastructure surveying.
  • UAV/drone mapping and reality capture technologies.
  • Multi-office project coordination and team leadership.
