Project Executive, Electrical Construction
A well-established electrical contractor in the Greater Boston area is seeking an experienced Project Executive to lead the delivery of large-scale commercial electrical construction projects. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to oversee a substantial project portfolio, manage project teams, strengthen key client relationships, and support the continued growth of an established commercial division. The contractor has a strong secured backlog and an active pipeline of major projects across healthcare, life sciences, higher education, commercial offices, residential, hospitality, sports, and entertainment. This role would suit an experienced electrical construction leader looking to take ownership of complex projects while contributing to the long-term direction of a growing business.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight across multiple large-scale commercial electrical construction projects
- Lead, mentor, and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and administrative staff
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual requirements
- Oversee project budgets, financial forecasts, cost-to-complete reports, cash flow, billing, and overall commercial performance
- Review project schedules, procurement plans, manpower requirements, logistics, and major equipment lead times
- Identify and manage contractual, operational, financial, and scheduling risks across the project portfolio
- Provide executive-level oversight of change orders, claims, scope disputes, and contract negotiations
- Maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders
- Partner with field leadership to monitor manpower, productivity, quality, safety, and project execution
- Lead internal project reviews and ensure project teams provide accurate and timely financial reporting
- Support preconstruction efforts, including project selection, estimating handover, constructability reviews, scheduling, staffing, and procurement planning
- Participate in client presentations, contract negotiations, and business development activities
- Work closely with senior leadership to establish operational objectives, growth plans, and project delivery strategies
- Ensure project teams follow company procedures for documentation, cost control, change management, billing, and closeout
- Support the recruitment, development, and retention of high-performing project management teams
- Promote a collaborative and accountable culture across office and field operations
Requirements
- Extensive project management or project executive experience with an electrical contractor
- Proven experience overseeing large and complex commercial electrical construction projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, project teams, and client relationships simultaneously
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, construction sequencing, and field operations
- Advanced knowledge of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, billing, cash flow, and profitability
- Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts, change orders, claims, and other commercial matters
- Strong knowledge of procurement, scheduling, manpower planning, and project risk management
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and supporting project staff
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships with general contractors, owners, design teams, field leadership, and internal stakeholders
- Experience delivering healthcare, life science, higher education, commercial office, residential, hospitality, or similarly complex projects is preferred
- Experience with large union electrical construction projects is beneficial but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent electrical construction experience will be considered
