About the Opportunity
LVI Associates is partnered with a leading specialty geotechnical design-build contractor seeking a Regional Design SME to support complex ground improvement projects across the United States.
This position is ideal for a highly technical geotechnical engineer who wants to remain focused on engineering excellence while serving as a subject matter expert across a diverse portfolio of challenging projects. The role offers the opportunity to support complex national design efforts, solve unique subsurface challenges, mentor engineers, and influence design standards, methodologies, and best practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Subject Matter Expertise
- Lead and support advanced ground improvement designs across multiple regions and project sectors.
- Serve as a technical resource on complex geotechnical and ground improvement challenges.
- Support difficult pre-bid engineering efforts where technical judgment is critical.
- Perform design reviews, calculations, technical evaluations, and engineering assessments.
- Provide technical support to regional engineering teams on complex projects.
- Collaborate closely with operations and field teams to ensure constructible and efficient solutions.
Technical Leadership & Practice Development
- Mentor and support the development of engineers and designers across the organization.
- Deliver technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Develop and standardize design templates, workflows, and engineering procedures.
- Improve consistency, efficiency, and quality across design teams.
- Support the advancement of engineering standards and technical best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- PE license preferred.
- Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, foundation engineering, or ground improvement.
- Strong technical design and analytical capabilities.
- Experience supporting complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and communicate technical information effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical priorities across a national portfolio.
