Electrical Project Engineer - Water, Wastewater & Industrial Infrastructure

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead electrical engineering efforts for water, wastewater, industrial, and infrastructure projects throughout the Western United States. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while taking ownership of complex electrical designs, power distribution systems, industrial control applications, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong experience in electrical power systems, industrial facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, and project leadership. This position will play a key role in delivering projects from planning and design through construction support, commissioning, and startup.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & Design
- Lead electrical design efforts for water, wastewater, industrial, and infrastructure facilities.
- Design medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems.
- Develop electrical construction documents, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, power plans, and equipment layouts.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction packages.
- Design and specify switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and power distribution equipment.
- Support standby power systems including generators, automatic transfer switches, and UPS systems.
Industrial Controls & Infrastructure
- Support industrial control system and automation projects.
- Coordinate electrical systems with instrumentation, SCADA, automation, and control systems.
- Provide electrical solutions for remote facilities, utility infrastructure, and process facilities.
- Participate in hazardous location and classified area design where required.
Project Leadership
- Serve as the lead electrical engineer on assigned projects.
- Manage electrical scope, schedules, technical deliverables, and project quality.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, project managers, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within project teams.
- Review vendor submittals and equipment specifications.
- Support construction administration, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required.
- Experience designing medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Experience with switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, generators, and VFDs.
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and industry electrical standards.
- Experience working on engineering consulting or infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Experience with industrial control systems, instrumentation, SCADA, and automation projects.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and electrical designs.
- Experience supporting pumping stations, treatment plants, utility systems, and industrial process facilities.
- Construction support, startup, and commissioning experience.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Compensation & Benefits
